The enclosed documentation introduces the infrastructure benefits that the Lower Thames Tunnel allied with Thames Reach Airport can bring to the Thames Gateway region, satisfying not just the SERAS aviation demands, but also the infrastructure requirements for growth within the Thames Gateway. The proposals have been developed over the last two years from consultations with a wide range of interested parties and preliminary versions have been forwarded recently to strategic planning organisations.

Key Thames Reach Airport propositions

> The development of a modular, hub airport led by the construction of a multi-modal Lower Thames Tunnel.

> Creation of road and rail orbital routes through the Lower Thames Tunnel to provide new connections for eastern England and the Thames Gateway region, without loading traffic on to the M25.

> Creation of a scheme led by extensive rail access, with remote check-in facilities and fast rail links, and to integrate the modular hub airport with the European high-speed rail network.

> Creation of a raised platform using spoil from the Lower Thames Tunnel and from an airport terminal excavation to create the site for a compact, modular airport development with a minimum footprint and a minimum environmental impact.
